In Friesland and Groningen there are a total of 6 enthusiastic associations with many youth members. Come and train for free and see if fierljeppen is something for you!

Fierljep competitions

If you can make a climbing stroke and land next to the pole, you can participate in our youth competitions. These are usually on Saturday mornings at one of the 6 FLB fierljep associations.

There will be competition in 4 level groups, the division of which changes weekly based on calculation distance. How these are calculated is stated in the Variable determination form in the regulations.

At the Frisian and Dutch championships, competitions are divided into age groups and boys and girls compete separately.

Youth day Sportstad Heerenveen

Fierljeppen is a social sport, in which your opponents are often or become your friends. To make that even easier, we start the competition season with a real youth day in Sportstad Heerenveen. During this day you will do various sporting activities both with each other and in groups.
At this fun event, besides all youth members of the fierljep associations, brothers, sisters and friends are also welcome. This way you will already know a number of ljeppers friends before the season starts!

Do you want to give a speech about pole vaulting? You can of course do it yourself, but also take a look at the document “First aid for a 'fierljep' speech”. Here you will find tips on how to make a good speech. Also use the PowerPoint template with Ljeppie.
Are you giving a presentation in Frisian? Then use the Frisian version of the PowerPoint. On www.frysker.nl you can look up words and/or translate them if necessary.

We think it's great that you're giving a presentation about fierljeppen, and that's why, if you're a member of an FLB fierljep association, you can order a Ljeppie whiteboard marker and erasing cards for your group. In return, we ask you to invite your group in the presentation to a youth competition at the nearest fierljep accommodation.

Our mascot!

Ljeppie de Ljip

Our mascot is called Ljeppie de Ljip, it is a lapwing. Fierljeppen originated from the search for lapwing eggs. With a wooden wrist, the people from the bird watch jumped over the ditches. The first fierljep associations were founded by the bird watch. Later this was separated and the Frysk Ljeppers Boun was founded. Ljeppie de Ljip is present at the important competitions to encourage everyone. Ljeppie de Ljip also has a friend, it is Jeppie (a frog) from Polsstokbond Holland.

In 2021 we got a new Ljeppie 2.0. Are you curious how that went? Then take a look at the video below.

The story bank of Semko

The story about youth pole vaulter Else Klijn Velderman

Our chairwoman Etty Kramer-Spriensma was allowed to tell a story for the story bank for underwiisburo Semko at the end of 2022. The goal of underwiisburo Semko is to make primary school education more beautiful. They do this, among other things, by participating in the Taalplan Frysk, the plan of the province of Fryslân to help schools achieve the goals for Frisian. The story bank is a contribution from Semko to the implementation of this plan.
